Sunday School Classes

We hope this page will help you find the Sunday School classes that best fit the needs of you and your family to learn more about the word of God.  You are welcome to move between classes as you explore and as your interests develop.

Adult Classes

The Breakfast Club - Facilitated by Greg Chapman

A group of sinners who hunger for God's word and his will.  We collectively ingest the Bible verse by verse feeding on God's discernment, passion, and grace.

Wesley Class - Facilitated by Leonard Cohn

Class members meet to discuss a variety of contemporary issues in the context of Christian fellowship and bring forth a blend of Biblical study while addressing contemporary, social, and family issues.

The Harvesters Class - Facilitated by Mildred Harvey

Structured Adult Bible Study.  We are in the third year of a six-year study of all the books in the Bible.  The Adult Bible Studies material from Cokesbury provides a guide for better understanding.  The instructor explains the background and context of the lesson's scripture, following which the class reads and discusses the scripture.  Our sessions are held in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Youth Class - Facilitated by Wilson Phillips

Arlington United Methodist Church also provides a youth class for grades 7 - 12.  We hope to provide your children with a solid spiritual foundation that will instill a desire for a relationship with their Lord.  Our Youth Director, Wilson Phillips, conducts grades 7 - 12.  The youth try to take everyday principles and lessons from the Bible and apply them to life at school and socially.  Oftentimes, we discuss topics relevant to teens and find what the Bible has to say.  This class meets on the second floor of the Education Building adjacent to the Sanctuary.

Rotation Sunday School - Coordinated by Debra Yarbrough

Arlington United Methodist Church strives to provide your child with a solid foundation of Biblical and spiritual knowledge.  To keep things interesting, children grades K - 6 are presented each Bible lesson in a variety of formats, including creative cookery, games, stories, art, and music.  Classes rotate between various locations, depending on what format is being used.  Upon arrival, please check the schedule in the Education Building hallway to see where your elementary student will be on any given Sunday.

Nursery - Staffed from 8:40am - 12:15pm

The nursery is located next to the Toddler Room.  Infants are cuddled with love, rocked with praises and enjoy free play.

Toddler Room - Staffed from 8:40am - 12:15pm

The toddler room is located just inside the doorway to the Fellowship Hall.  Toddlers read bible stories, color pictures, discuss topics such as "For what to be thankful", and explore in playtime.

Other Ministries

The Walk to Emmaus, and its different ministries, is one way that the members of Arlington United Methodist Church continue to spread the word of Christ.  Our members are often involved in teams or board.  The Arlington United Methodist Emmaus Group meets once a month for dinner and fellowship.

The Memphis Chrysalis Community, which is an Emmaus-type Weekend for teens, is another great ministry that our Church is involved in.  Also, a few of our members are involved in a prison ministry, Kairos.
